America’s Next Top Model Clycle 13

Cycle 13 of this years America’s Next Top Model breaks the mould by offering women 5′7″ and under (tiny compared to the industry standard six-footers), the chance to become this years winner

Fourteen lucky ladies are given a chance to show they have what it takes! ANTM kicks off with the usual spectacle where the girls start bitching from the off!

ANTM creator and executive producer Tyra Banks leads the panel of judges, comprised of leading fashion industry experts. This year the panel consists of “Internationally renowned” photographer Nigel Barker, runway expert J. Alexander (Miss J.) who began his career gracing the runway for Jean Paul Gaultier in New York City. The judges closely evaluate the progress of the models to narrow the field each week. “Catty” judge Paulina Porizkova was given the boot this year, she says it was because of Tyra’s ego; Tyra says ‘budgeting constraints’! mmmmm you decide!

Guest judges include Lauren Conrad author of LA Candy and star of MTV’s The Hills and Kim Kardashian best known for her social life and her role on the E! reality show Keeping Up with the Kardashians.

Adding to the renowned “pantomime craziness” from the panel, Tyra has a new word this cycle “Smizing” – Smiling with your eyes! (Thank god, it could have been anything we were all thinking here in the office!)

Of course no series would be complete without the stunning Jay Manuel (Mr J.), a beauty and fashion virtuoso who started his career as a talented makeup artist. Manuel’s outstanding talent as creative director and producer has more than contributed to the huge triumph of 13 seasons of ANTM. In addition to ANTM, he is Fashion Correspondent for E! Networks, and can regularly be seen on the brightest of red carpets covering The Emmy Awards, The Golden Globe Awards, The Grammy Awards and The Academy Awards. Starting in the UK in 2010 Manuel will become Host/Executive Producer of Canada’s Next Top Model another great series to go on the Sky+.

The show has moved back to LA from New York and as usual stars are clambering at the chance to get in on a ‘piece of the action’ including a guest appearance by Beverley Hills Cop star Eddie Murphy. The house is as spectacular as ever and the balance of bad girls and cry babies is as good as ever!

This years winner will be managed by Wilhelmina Models, receive a $100,000 contract with cosmetics giant CoverGirl, and appear on the cover and in a six-page fashion spread of Seventeen magazine.

Teyona was the winner of America’s Next Top Model Cycle 12. Well done!
