Real Queen of England – Jodie Harsh
One Nation Magazine’s Gregory Triplets caught up with Jodie Harsh, one of the most familiar faces on London party scene.
The news that she wants a sleepover with William & Harry and has been photographed by Rankin, with her nipples out, just proves to us here at GT Showbiz why this Queen’s rein is here for good.
Who is your most famous fan?
Amy Winehouse used to really like my wigs. She’s tried them on actually. We share mutual hair envy, but mine is much bigger than hers. She looked like her beehive was five-foot tall in the papers but in real life she’s so petite that you realise it’s all an illusion.
Where is the most bizarre place you have been recognised?
I get recognised everywhere when I’m dressed up and barely anywhere when I’m not. I live in Hoxton Square and there are quite a few clubs and bars there, so when I let myself into my front door at 2am I tend to hear shouts of ‘Jodie!’
You played the role of Roisin Murphy’s mother in her ‘Movie Star’ video. Have you ever had any offers to be a movie star yourself?
Not really. There’s no sex tape or anything.
With award season well underway, which British starlets do you top for success in 2009?
Jaime Winstone is going to grow and grow as an actress. She deserves it because she’s so fucking nice, especially compared to some people in that industry. VV Brown is going to be singer of the year. I’m sure she’ll win a Brit in 2010.
You are the self-professed ‘Real Queen of England’. Who would you prefer to spend the weekend with: Queen Liz or Helen Mirren?
Elizabeth by far. What a legend! I want to try on her jewellery and have a sleep over with her grandsons.
Have you ever been tempted, or do you plan to, spread you glittering wings over the pond in the US?
I’ve just recorded a track with the producer Larry Tee, who’s based over in NYC, and I’m heading out to the city this coming Saturday to do music for a fashion show. I used to want to live in New York but the culture in London is so amazing at the moment. Home is where my wig is.
Are there any photographers you still long to work with?
I’ve been shot by Rankin (with my nipples out, for French Playboy, I kid you not) and Mert and Marcus with Kate Moss for Pop magazine, so I guess the other biggies left are Steven Klein and LaChapelle. We’ll see. I’m a big fan of both of their work so maybe they are reading this.
You are certainly renowned as London’s top party girl, you have even been out on the tiles with Kate Moss and Jamie Hince, is there a part of you that still loves a night in front of the TV?
Nothing beats a bowel of Haagen Daaz, a cup of tea and the Gossip Girl box set.
Circus is every Friday at The Last Days of Decadence, 145 Shoreditch High Street, London E2.
