Selfridges Big Yellow Centenary Festival 2009

The One Nation’s Gregory Triplets attend the exclusive Big Yellow party at Selfridges.

The end of April saw the launch party for Selfridges Big Yellow Centenary Festival. Oxford’s street’s finest may come second behind Harrods as the UK’s largest store but this did not stop the likes of Boris Johnson, Erin O’Connor and Lily Allen coming out to celebrate 100 years since the store opened. Acting and literary Legend Joan Collins, who would have been 23 when the store, opened rubbed shoulders with other celebs drinking champagne from yellow cups served by waiters in yellow t-shirts, whilst admiring ‘The Selfridgettes’ strutting their stuff in yellow dresses designed exclusively by Giles Deacon.

Also on display were a range of limited edition centenary products featuring collaborations with Absolut Vodka, Cola Cola, Converse and Polo Ralph Lauren. The festival continues throughout the month of May with events including makeovers, fashion shows, vogueing workshops, gay bingo and music sets from VV Brown, Henry Holland and Frank Musik.

Our recommendation? Forget painting the town red – paint it yellow, it’s far more glam!
