Sizzlingly Hot Chris Bailey
One Nation Magazine Editor Andrew Howard got to chat with Chris Bailey
Chris is an aspiring model from Yorkshire, stunningly gorgeous Chris has great proportions and is currently one of the most in demand models around.
So tell us about the real Chris, your family background, is it what people might expect?
Surprisingly, when people meet me, they never believe that I’m from a pit town in Yorkshire. I think because I grew up with a lot of experiences and always wanted to break free and see the world, my life ambitions and even my Yorkshire accent have gone through a dramatic change from my original roots.
My family growing up was lower middle class. Two sisters and myself lived with my parents in a terrace house in Doncaster, I went to what one could call a good school with bad pupils… But, I think that if you’re a determined person, you can do just about anything!
How committed to fitness do you have to be in your line of work? Are you a smooth-aholic or do have a personal trainer?
Not just in modeling but also for general well being, my partner and I both like to keep in shape. Obviously, you need to be in good physical condition for some photo shoots but I think it is important to at least keep active to help keep your cardio system ticking over.
How did you get into modeling and what would your ideal campaign be if you could choose?
I fell into modeling really. I had interest from a photographer to do an underwear shoot for an online retailer and from that, I met a number of other photographers who helped me build up a body of work. From that point on, I’ve done magazines, editorials, commercial shoots and even the odd foray into body paint styling.
I’d love to do work for Roberto Cavalli and Vivienne Westwood. They both have flair with menswear and the clothes are always spot on.
Would you say you’re a typical ‘Boy next door’?
I’m not your typical Zac Efron although my boyfriend would be quite happy if I was!! I think I’m a bit over-styled to be a typical boy next door, but I think I do have that charm.
If you could choose any designer underwear brand to be the ‘face of’ which would it be?
I love 2xist, the fit of the briefs and the trunks fit my waist and bum perfectly. I’d be happy to do work for them
If you hadn’t chosen to be a model, what career path do you think you would have taken?
I studied for a master degree in Chemistry and I always wanted to move into a technical role. I have a passion for clothes and I think that I could do well in a fashion merchandising / buying role, so we’ll see what the future holds.
You have done some fantastic photo-shoots who has been your favourite photographer and what was the best shoot location?
So many good photographers have allowed me to shoot with them, I did a great bodypainting shoot with Gaz (picsbygaz.com) which I thoroughly enjoyed. Gaz is always great to work with and he has a way of making me look better than I think I am!
I did a really cool shoot with Pantelis that recently saw pictures in Status magazine in Panama – was a fun shoot. My first ever shoot was under a rail bridge in Manchester in February, so you can imagine how cold it was, but on top of it being cold, it was an underwear shoot!! Good fun, but an experience in how to avoid hyperthermia.
Reality Model shows, what’s your feeling? Love them or hate them? And would you do it?
Funnily enough, I’ve just auditioned for Men’s Health covermodel competition that is being filmed for C4… I like to watch things like America’s Top Model but I don’t think I’d actually want to take part in something that intense!
What would you say is the sexiest part of your body?
Asking my partner we have this order: my bum, my chest, my shoulders, my arms and my stomach. For me personally, I like the shape of my torso. I think I was blessed with good proportions.
Who do you look up to in the model industry and why?
Marcus Schenkenberg is one of the first male super models that really put male modeling on the map. He has such an exotic look and has carved out a very successful career.
What’s the most embarrassing thing that’s happened to you?
I’ve often fallen up the escalators on the tube, which can be a little embarrassing.
Who’s your all-time hero?
I don’t like to put people on pedestals and call them heroes because I think anyone that is given the opportunities to succeed can achieve the seemingly unattainable.
What makes you angry?
Arrogance where it is not deserved or earnt. There’s a difference between confidence and cockiness.
What’s the most expensive item you have ever bought?
2007 Porsche Cayman in bright white that goes around corners very well and goes very fast.
The most expensive fashion item would be my one of a kind, Florian Denicourt bag from Paris
Our readers are going to want to know are you single or attached, gay or straight and if you are single what do you look for in a partner?
Well, I think it’s clear from some of my answers that unfortunately for some, I am neither single nor straight.
Ok you think he’s the perfect guy – how would he/she win you over?
He already has. Through stalking and threatening – just kidding, of course.
What’s your guilty pleasure?
Fashion TV, channel 261 on Sky.
Who would you like to get stuck on a desert island with – and why?
I think it would have to be someone that I get on well with and would be as relaxed as I am.
Who’s the wisest person you have ever met – and why?
I couldn’t put it down to one person, I think I’ve met a lot of people in my life time so far that have given good advice or helped me to better myself in what they have said.
What moment changed your life?
The day my dad died was the biggest shock to me and really changed my life and sent it in a whole new direction.
So what is the future for you – Is there something you want to try or would love to be asked to do?
I’m more of an opportunist than anything else, so knowing what exactly I want to do with my life is tricky – we’ll see what happens!
Is your glass half full or half empty?
Half full
Last question, and it has to be about advice. If someone wanted to get into modeling what advice would you give them and what are some of the pitfalls they should watch out for?
Find a good photographer that is willing to help get you on the right track. Watch out for amateur photographers that are really only interested in themselves and do not pay you for published work. Treat it as a business and protect your assets!
