Fitness Model Trevor Adams Tells Us Why Breakfast Is The Most Important Meal Of The Day

Nobody likes the extra body weight. Physically, it doesn’t make for the best eye candy nor is it as aesthetically pleasing.

Emotionally it can leave one feeling as guilty as O.J. Simpson awaiting his verdict. A few things to consider in regards to your dieting habits next time you want to splurge.

They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Its true, simply because you’re on a 8-10 hr diet at night when you “fast” and don’t eat. So lets not skip breakfast but lets make sure that we’re not always eating eggs and sausage either; nor waffles with the melted butter. Granted you will have the duration of a full days work to burn the excess calories, start the day off right with maybe an apple, or some yogurt, toast is good, maybe with some peanut butter. You get a combination of all your good fats and sugars and some natural energy that can help fuel you until your next meal. I say apples because studies have shown that apples are actually more effective at waking you up then caffeine itself. You believe that? If not apples, then oranges or bananas some kind of fruit. Its good for energy, vitamin C, and Potassium.

Now if we’re splurging on our breakfast all the time with foods that are greasy or processed foods that you will get at your fast food joints, you maybe able to slide on that for the time being. We can just assume that your workout habits will justify your bad dieting down the road. Do keep in mind that you will need to moderate the types of foods you eat throughout the remainder of the day as your shift at work comes to an end. Speculation has it that its not good to eat after 6pm? That is assuming that you go to bed at 8pm? If you do, you maybe ok, but truth be told, your last meal of the day needs to be the healthiest and for obvious reasons. But meal meaning you still need to eat. Avoiding a meal isn’t good at all, but being health conscience is.

If you like beef or pork, try the leaner ones as a substitute as they are easier on your body to digest, (chicken, turkey, fish) Some people like their pasta at night along with the bread and dessert. Within an hour or two, its bedtime. Now granted, our resting metabolic rate will kick in and effectively help burn the calories, you can be that much more “ahead of the game” if you ate that meal earlier on and did your evening jog a few hours later, to give your body enough time to metabolize it before you slept on it. Bread and pastas are you complex carbs, which means they are the hardest to digest and the body loves to store them in area commonly referred to as the “bread basket” or the “love handles.” Carbs will act as your reserved fuel source as will fat, but your body is good at storing fat on its own without the additional help.

Without confusing you any further or critisising you for enjoying your holiday season just keep the few simple concepts in mind that were mentioned. Also note that fruit juice is a great drink alternative opposed to sodas and is great for vitamins and minerals, but it also has a high caloric and carb level and should be drinken in moderation or substituted with the diet version. Fast foods are likely to contain trans fat which acts as a preservative and is the worst fat that can be consumed. We all have our “cheat days” or even “cheat weeks,” lets just make ourselves more aware of them. Bottom line, expend more calories then you consume and walk at least 10,000 steps a day. If you need to get a pedometer to help you count, get one. If your method of cardio is running, walking, or cycling and you have certain health conditions (arthritis, osteoporosis) that make these tasks less pleasurable, try Aquatic therapy, (swimming, water sports) as you can burn a great deal of calories but you aren’t burdened by the full complexities of your own weight. Something to consider for this upcoming year.

I’ve always wondered if there was a substitute for my coffee in the morning so I shall be giving an apple a try…… followed by a coffee :)
